In 1986 when Dr. Barbara Rosen opened her private practice, B.R. Audiology & Counseling Center (later Audiology of Nassau County), she never thought she would exceed her own aspirations…..a 20 year anniversary and still going strong. While the initial office space was small and cramped, the philosophy was the same then as it is now in more spacious quarters…..to provide a nurturing environment, compassion and care, and an understanding of the complexities of the hearing system.
Using state of the art equipment and aural rehabilitation and counseling techniques, Dr. Rosen helps guide her patients through the maze of complex information and detail that can be disarming to the uninitiated. Dr. Rosen helps her patients understand their audiogram, collaborates with them to choose the proper hearing devices, assists them with earmold choices, helps them with assistive listening device decisions, and provides repair strategies for obtaining the optimal experiences given the patient’s residual hearing and choice of hearing device.
Dr. Rosen’s reputation for perseverance and patience, a dash of humor and occasional hand holding, aids patients as they navigate towards improved hearing. The office is warm and friendly and family members are encouraged to attend not only the initial appointment but all the follow up sessions. Family members accompany the patient into the test suite and are part of the rehabilitation process.
With over thirty five years experience Dr. Rosen uses her professional judgment and hard-earned skills to keep her patients happy and returning year after year for testing, reprogramming, cleaning, advice and an occasional good story! We earn respect because we give respect.
All of this attention to detail takes time and at Audiology of Nassau, we pride ourselves in providing adequate time for testing procedures and for attending to each patient’s concerns, anxieties and expectations. Appointments are conveniently scheduled and allow for testing, history taking, and discussion of the findings. Reports are prepared and dispatched promptly.
Our office encourages good health practices and provides hearing conservation information and ear protection devices. We use disposable items when possible and cold sterilize all necessary equipment.
Our goals include, but are not limited to, a short term quality experience, and a long term commitment to our patient needs in the years to come.
